Working on neckwarmers

So I dumped the food idea scarf for right now, and am working on, a different type of neckwarmer. I had bought a pattern from someone on ETSY, and I can't do buttons it seems, so I changed the pattern. I am hoping me and the crocheter can work together to make a pattern. I have never worked with another crocheted before, I am hoping it goes well. :)   But you never know. I actually made a halloween neckwarmer, its orange, yellow, white and red, it reminds me of candy corn. Halloween is just around the corner, so I might have to dig out the decorations soon!!!! Yeah!

A new project inspired by food? o.0

I really love food, I love to dine out and dine in. I am not too picky about food, I experiment sometimes. I have never eaten sushi, my hubby is always trying to get me to try that. But the idea of raw fish, well doesnt sound good to me. So for my love of food, I am working on a scarf right now, inspired by one of my favorite foods. I would tell you what it is, but I would rather surprise you with it! Lol, that and I kinda don't know how it will turn out just yet. I will give you a hint, it has red in it! Of course that could be a lot of things, but I would rather keep you guessing. So stay tuned, hopefully I can get it done in a few days and I will post a pic for you guys!

Projects and objects go........

Have you ever had those days, where you cant decide what to make? I was all excited to make another cowl, and now that I am about halfway done, I am like eh. I dont know what it is sometimes, honestly. One day your all excited, then the next your not. I bought several new patterns yesterday, and I was all excited to make them. I had to wait to get a skein of yarn to finish the cowl I started, cause I ran out of yarn on the first skein. I like multicolored yarn, more than plain yarn for some reason. I usually dont pay too much attention to brand, just the colors. I could honestly stand in front of a yarn rack for hours, I think. Of course, with kids and a husband in tow, that isnt a possibility! My son takes the skeins off the rack at the store, and when I get home my daughter takes the skeins out of the bag! Sometimes it takes a minute to find my yarn! :)   As you can imagine I have to replace a few crochet hooks too. Maybe a measuring tape or two, oh and stitch markers. I wonder where they go? My kids get them, then they disappear to where i dont know? Maybe one day they will show up back again!

Insomnia is a good or bad thing?

For as long as I can remember, I have suffered from insomnia. I have tried countless pills, methods and everything I can think of. Eh, so I give up. I usually spend this time, such as right now, working on new patterns, crocheting or watching tv. I actually love Lifetime movies, I watch those a lot. I also love horror movies the classics such as Halloween, Friday the 13th and anything scary pretty much. I find crocheting to be a calming thing, so i do it when I get a chance. Dealing with a 3 year old, a cat and a now one year old, sometimes I dont get time! The reason I asked if insomnia is a good or bad thing is cause, i get lots of stuff done. Or is it bad cause I dont get lots of sleep? Idk.

Patterns, patterns and more patterns.... and yarn!

I enjoy buying new patterns, there is always that feeling of excitement, as you click the "buy now" button. Or buying that book at your local book store, I go to Barnes and Nobles, and I go to Half-price books. I enjoy the hunt for that new book or great pattern that I just HAVE to do. That happens a lot, lol. I have a pretty extensive pattern/book collection now. I also buy Crochet today! magazine when it comes out. I am also a yarn hoarder, I wont deny that. Just ask my husband. I have about 7 tubs full of yarn. I can't help it, lol. I think most crocheters are yarn and pattern hoarders, though. :)

First sale and attempt at a new crafting project

My punk princess cowl
So I came up with this great idea today. To do advertisements for my site! So we went to Micheals and bought transfer paper, and t-shirts and tote bags. We got home, and got to work, and after about 3 hours, (to set everything up, make the design, and get the kids settled) we were ready to begin. We followed the directions and I can tell you, DON'T do it. Lol, I dont know what went wrong, but yeah. I tried making a design with what I call "puff paint", which is Tulip fabric paint. I can't do straight lines, so it honestly didnt work. I mean it worked, it just didnt look all that great. So what lesson is to be learned here? Well I guess I need to stick to crocheting! :)  I have been having trouble sleeping lately, and I have been coming up with ideas for projects. Of course, I didnt have anywhere to put these ideas down at, so I bought a sketch pad at the store, along with some colored pencils.I dont know what I will come up with, but hopefully its cool. I have been thinking of food objects lately, and my next project will be a "watermelon" inspired cowl. I did make my first sale today on ETSY, so I am excited! The picture is of the item that was purchased today. MY FIRST SALE!

Stay tuned and happy crocheting!     :)

The one crochet thing I can't seem to master

The dreaded post stitches, front and back, sigh. These stitches, I cant seem to get them, I have watched videos, read books, read info on here, and I am convinced that they are evil. Lol. I know they arent really, its just for some reason I cant seem to do them. It is annoying. I mean it took me a bit to learn granny squares, and I was having trouble reading patterns, so I went and bought "Crocheting for dummies". I had always poked fun at those books before, but I can tell you, it helped me a lot. I even bought "Crochet patterns for dummies!" After that it seemed that reading patterns was a bit easier, but still to this day I still can't do post stitches. I am including a link on how to do post stitches, so good luck!

Crocheting for the first time

I remember honestly walking into Hobby Lobby, being a knitter at the time, and frustrated, it took FOREVER to knit something, it was driving me crazy. I had looked at crochet hooks and stuff before, and I was like well I taught myself to knit, might as well teach myself how to crochet too. My son at the time wasnt even born yet, and I wanted to make booties and cute little hats and all those cute little things. So I bought a book called "Learn crochet in just one day" a skein of red heart white and a crochet hook. After I got home and looked over the book I thought it would be a piece of cake. Lol, never underestimate something. It took a day to learn how to chain, 2 days to learn single, and about a week to learn, double, treble crochet. Here it is 4 years later, and I am still learning. I dont think you will ever stop learning honestly. By the way, I never did make my son that blanket, and last year when my daughter was born, I didnt make her a blanket either. So go figure.
